Kyra clinches U-16 Girls Lawn Tennis Title

JAMMU, Jan 9: The MA Stadium courts witnessed thrilling action on the second day of the J&K Lawn Tennis Association’s (JKLTA) U-16 Boys and Girls Championship, as emerging young players showcased skill, determination and competitive spirit. The day saw intense matches in both singles and doubles categories, culminating in the crowning of the tournament’s first champion.
The spotlight shone brightest on Kyra Nagpal, who produced a flawless display to defeat Aarushi Kumari by 4-0, 4-0 in the U-16 Girls Final. “This win is a dream come true; the rigorous training at JKLTA has finally paid off,” said Kyra, dedicating her victory to her coaches.
Earlier, the girls’ singles semi-finals set the tone for the day. Aarushi Kumari overwhelmed Angel Vaid by 6-0, while Kyra Nagpal breezed past Sarah Mahajan by 6-0, demonstrating precise serves and strong court coverage.
The U-16 Boys Singles semi-finals were equally thrilling. Piyush Kumar overpowered Nakul Mehra by 8-3, while Saksham Amla defeated Aarish Sethi by 8-5, setting up an exciting final between the young contenders.
In Boys Doubles, semi-final action saw Piyush Kumar and Retish rout Aarish Sethi and Viraj by 8-2, while Himanshu and Nakul edged Khushaansh and Ayank by 7-5. The doubles finals featured clean sweeps, with Ayank Jaiswal and Khushaansh Magotra defeating Arsh Arora and Ansh Sayal by 6-0 and Nakul and Himanshu overcoming Vansh and Nitin by 6-0.
