Kumaresh A maintains lead after Round 8 in Chess Fiesta

JAMMU, Mar 30: Kumaresh A continued his dominant run by maintaining the lead after eight rounds with a perfect score of 8 points in the ongoing International Rating Chess Fiesta at IDPS School, Jammu. Displaying bold and flawless gameplay, he remains unbeaten and has emerged as the top contender in the tournament.
Trailing behind are local player Ashutosh Jamwal and J&K champion Sumit Grover, both with 6.5 points. A competitive group comprising Ram Parkash, Ishmeet Singh and J&K players Aarav Gupta, Maxim Singh and Aahana Gupta are tied at 6 points each, keeping the competition intense.
The tournament has attracted 120 players from nine states, with a total of nine rounds scheduled. It is being organised by the Jammu District Chess Association in collaboration with Premier Chess Academy USA and IDPS School, Jammu.
The event is officiated by Chief Arbiter Varun Kumar, assisted by Anand JS, Arvindu, Nirmal Sharma, Ajit Kumar and Stuti Gupta. Players praised the excellent venue and professional arrangements. The event is being conducted under the supervision of Meenal Gupta, the first woman president of AJKCA.
