Kotranka Zone clinches Dr Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Cricket tourney

RAJOURI, Dec 8: Kotranka Zone emerged victorious by defeating Sunderbani Zone in the grand finale of the Dr Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial District Level Cricket Tournament, organized by Principal Boys Model Higher Secondary School, Rajouri.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, who applauded the efforts of the organizers and participating teams. A total of sixteen teams from different zones of District Rajouri participated, providing a competitive platform for young sporting talent and promoting sportsmanship.
DC paid tribute to Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, recalling his distinguished services and supreme sacrifice during cross-border shelling. He also announced that work has begun to convert Dr. Thapa’s residential quarter into a museum and library in his honour and urged youth to channel energy into sports, avoid drug abuse and aim for excellence at state and national levels.
Principal Boys Model HSS Rajouri, Muslim Wani and CEO Rajouri, Mohd Hafeez, highlighted the role of sports in developing discipline, teamwork and leadership among students.
District Information Officer Rajouri, Ashiq Rafiq Malik, congratulated winners and participants and assured full cooperation in promoting similar events. Staff members, media personnel, and prominent citizens witnessed the thrilling finale, which concluded with a felicitation ceremony for winners and runners-up.
