Khalsa Club wins 1st Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial Hockey tourney

JAMMU, May 4: Khalsa Hockey Club Gole Gujral clinched the title of the 1st Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial Hockey Tournament by defeating BSB Hockey Club Poonch by 1-0 in a thrilling final played at Guru Tegh Bahadur Mini Stadium, Camp Gole Gujral.
The five-day tournament was organized by Khalsa Hockey Club and Khalsa Warriors Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K to promote hockey and engage youth in positive sporting activities. Karanjeet Singh from Khalsa Hockey Club was named Man of the Match and awarded a cash prize of Rs 1100 Avneet Singh was adjudged Man of the Tournament and received Rs 2100.
The winning team took home a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the runner-up team was awarded Rs 5,100. A Fair Play Award of Rs 2,100 was presented to Kathu Hockey Club Lachipura.
The final match was graced by SSP Randhir Singh (CID) as the chief guest. He congratulated the organizers and emphasized the importance of sports in steering youth away from drugs and negative influences. Prominent dignitaries and hockey officials including Rajinder Singh, G.S. Bakshi, Adv. Barkat Rattan, Dr. Karanbir Singh and others were also present. The matches were officiated by Pankaj, Daljeet Singh Bhatiya and Surinder Singh.
