JAMMU, Sept 19: To encourage the young swimmers raise their standard of performance at competitive level, a swimming competition was organized at KC Sports Club today for Under-14 age group in which many young swimmers took part with great enthusiasm, here.
To accommodate as many swimmers as possible, heats were conducted to select the best swimmers on time basis. Finally, the best of them vied with each other for the position of the winner. In the final event conducted on free style of swimming, Ousmaan Saleem grabbed the first position, while Pratham Mahajan stood second and Aaishwardhan Sharma finished third in a photo finish situation.
The medals were given by Dr Ram Thakur to the winners as well as consolation prizes to all the participants.
The Club intends to organize similar swimming contests in the future under different age categories for boys and girls separately.
The gifted swimmers identified through these competitions would form a swimming team to represent KC Sports Club in various swimming competitions scheduled to be held this summer in Jammu or elsewhere in the State of J&K.
