JAMMU, June 17: In continuation to a week long celebration of J&K Police Raising Day, Kathua Police organized ‘Run for Fun’ Programme which was organized by District Police here today.
The 4 kilometers race was flagged off from DPL Kathua by Mohan Lal, SP Kathua, which after passing through Nagri Adda, Nagri Turning, Shaheedi Chowk and Govt Degree College Gate, Kathua and culminated at Dream Land Park Kathua.
350 people participated in the event.
SP Kathua distributed the trophies along with the cash prizes among the winners and the runners-up participants. Vicky Sharma S/o Jawahar Lal Sharma of Budhi secured 1st position and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2000, Abhishek Sangra S/o Ashwani Kumar R/o Ward No-4 Kathua bagged 2nd position and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1500 and Randhir Singh S/o Devinder Paul R/o Ward No-3 Kathua got 3rd position and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1000.
Consolation prize of Rs 500 was also given to the youngest participant Gourav Sharma (9 years) S/o Rakesh Raj R/o Badala Kathua. SP Kathua addressed the gathering and said that the aim of organizing such programme by J&K Police is to encourage the youth for their maximum participation in sports activities and to keep them away from various mal-practices like drugs and other anti-national and anti-social activities.
