JAMMU, May 1: The second match of the 1st Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Memorial Hockey Tournament was held at Guru Tegh Bahadur Mini Stadium, Camp Gole Gujral, here today, where Kathua Hockey Club defeated Deshmesh Hockey Club by 3-1 in a competitive fixture.
The tournament is being organized by Khalsa Hockey Club and Khalsa Warriors Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K, with the aim of promoting hockey and engaging youth in positive sporting activities.
Aadhi of Kathua Hockey Club was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. Prithipal Singh Bunty, the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the organizers for their initiative and stressed the role of sports in steering youth away from drugs and harmful activities.
Other dignitaries present included Gurpreet Singh (Vice President, Hockey J&K), Tejinder Singh (Resident Secretary, Hockey J&K), Harminder Singh (CPO), Sarabjit Singh, Rajinder Singh, Amarpal Singh, Malkeet Singh, Jetinder Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Harjeet Singh and RP Sarna. The match was officiated by a technical panel comprising Gagandeep Singh, Pankaj, Balmeet Singh and Surinder Singh.
