KATHUA, Nov 19: A highly competitive cricket match between Kathua DC XI and GDC Kathua XI unfolded at GDC Kathua today, delivering an exciting contest marked by individual brilliance and team effort.
GDC Kathua XI won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 116 runs for 7 wickets in a 15-over match. Prof Tariq led the innings with 39 runs, supported by Prof Sandeep Sharma (25), Prof Daya Ram (21) and Prof Umar (11). Bowling for Kathua DC XI, Prof Arvind claimed three wickets, while Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma picked up two crucial early wickets, keeping the opposition under control.
Chasing 117, Kathua DC XI lost their first wicket on the opening ball, but DIO Rajinder Digra played a fiery knock of 53 runs off 22 balls, including four sixes and six fours, anchoring the innings. DPO Aamir Chaudhary (17) and ACR Vishav Partap Singh (17) added crucial runs in the middle overs.
With the match heading towards a nail-biting finish, ADC Vishavjeet Singh and CEO Municipal Council Amit Sharma held their nerve in the final over to steer Kathua DC XI to victory with three balls to spare.
