JU students secure runner-up position at State level Hackathon

JAMMU, Nov 12: Students from the University of Jammu’s “Design Your Degree” (DYD) B.Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence & Mathematical Innovations have secured the runner-up position at a State level Hackathon organized by Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora. The winning seven member team consisted of Adil Mahajan, Tavishi Amla, Pawandeep Singh, Bhoomi Samnotra, Avichal Badyal, Gourav Sharma and Suhani Behl. They were guided and mentored by Mohsin Hassan from the University’s faculty.
A felicitation ceremony at the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat saw Prof. Umesh Rai congratulate the students on their outstanding performance, lauding their innovation, technical prowess and collaborative spirit. He stressed the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), urging students to protect their projects and translate ideas into viable real world outcomes. Prof Rai described the DYD programme-run under the University’s Skill Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SIIEDC)-as a transformative initiative embedding entrepreneurial thinking into technical education.
Prof Alka Sharma, Director of SIIEDC and Prof K.S. Charak also praised the students and emphasised the confluence of mathematical innovation and artificial intelligence driving modern technological solutions. The University reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening research, innovation and entrepreneurship, aiming to pose its graduates as job creators rather than job?seekers.
