JAMMU, Oct 29: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organised its Inter-Collegiate Tournaments 2025-26, featuring Table Tennis, Football and Powerlifting events for men and women, attracting wide participation from affiliated colleges.
In Table Tennis (Men’s section), MIET Jammu defeated ASCOMS Jammu by 3-0, PG Dept JU beat GDC Jindrah by 3-0, GCET Jammu overcame GDC Hiranagar by 3-1, GMC Doda triumphed over GMC Kathua by 3-0 and GMC Jammu won by 2-1 against GDC Kathua. In the Women’s section, GDC Ramnagar edged GDC Doda by 3-2.
In Football, GDC Kathua beat GDC Poonch by 4-0 and GDC Poonch defeated PG Dept JU by 2-0 in the women’s category. The men’s matches saw GMC Kathua defeat GMC Jammu by 5-0, GDC Samba beat GDC Billawar by 4-0, GDC Kathua won by 3-0 against MBS College, GDC Hiranagar overcame GCET Jammu by 2-1 and GDC Poonch defeated BDC Udhampur by 3-0.
The Powerlifting Championship witnessed exceptional performances: Shivam Koul (MIET) 422.3 kg, Rahul Khajuria (DDC) 400 kg and Bhavish Pawar (MIET) 370 kg (Below 59 Kg). Eklavya Pratap Singh (Dogra Law) 455 kg, Krishna (PHC Chak Balwal) 447.5 kg and Narayan Singh (GDC Hiranagar) 407.5 kg in 66 kg; Hitarth Sharma (MIET) 485 kg, Harnoor Singh (MIET) 477.5 kg and Manav Ghai (IMS) 445 kg in 74 kg category.
