JU organises Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo (Men & Women) C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 12: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized the Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo (Men & Women) Championship 2025–26 at the Directorate’s Indoor Hall under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director. The Championship saw enthusiastic participation from various affiliated colleges, displaying exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
In the Women’s category, GCW Parade dominated the championship by securing several top positions. Bhavya Rajput (GCW Parade) won gold in the U-46 kg category, followed by Simran (GCET Jammu) with silver and Mehak Sharma (KC Law College) with bronze. In U-49 kg, Vidushi (GCW Parade) bagged gold. The U-53 kg category saw Sania Mumtaz (GCW Parade) winning gold and Bhavya Mahajan (BDC Udhampur) taking silver. Kiriti Jamwal (GCW Parade) clinched gold in U-57 kg, while Supriya Dogra (GCW Parade) and Pragati Bhardwaj (GDC Udhampur) won gold and silver respectively in U-62 kg. Khushi Jamwal, Ananya Choudhary (both PG Deptt. JU), and Niharika (GCW Parade) also earned gold medals in their events. In Poomsae Individual, Supriya Dogra, Bhavya Rajput, Kiriti Jamwal and Pragati Bhardwaj won medals, while GCW Parade triumphed in Poomsae Group with Supriya Dogra, Bhavya Rajput and Kiriti Jamwal. Lourick (PG Deptt. JU) and Kiriti Jamwal (GCW Parade) bagged top positions in Pair Poomsae.
In the Men’s category, gold medalists included Tanish (GDC Mishriwala, U-54 Kg), Zulfqar Ali (GDC Doda, U-58 Kg), Ansh Sharma (GDC R.S. Pura, U-63 Kg), Rajinder Kumar (GDC Udhampur, U-68 Kg), Geetansh Thakur (PG Deptt. JU, U-74 Kg), Anshul Padha (MIET Jammu, U-80 Kg), Rahul Sharma (MIET Jammu, U-87 Kg) and Manjeet Kumar (PG Deptt. JU, Over 87 Kg). Silver medals were won by Lourick (PG Deptt. JU), Abhirag Bharti (GDC R.S. Pura), Tofail Jain (GDC Doda), Amardeep Singh (GDC Kunjwani), Tahir Mushaq (GDC Doda), and Aryaman Bansotra (GDC Udhampur). Bronze medals went to Prince Choudhary (GDC Samba), Ajay Kumar (GDC Bishnah), Rahat Ishaq (GCET Jammu), Rafaqat Choudhary (GDC Kunjwani), Sanju Kattal (GDC R.S. Pura), and Samaksh Sharma (GDC Kunjwani).
In Poomsae Individual (Men), Lourick (PG Deptt. JU) secured the top position, followed by Kamaljeet Bogal (GDC Kunjwani) with silver and Tanish (GDC Mishriwala) and Abhi Kumar (GDC Kunjwani) with bronze medals.The bouts were officiated by Dr. Sunil Thakur, Komal Dhiman, Karan Chopra, Khushi Jamwal and Jai Bharat.
