JU kicks off Inter-Departmental Tournament 2025-26 for Men

JAMMU, May 26: The University of Jammu enthusiastically commenced its much-awaited Inter-Departmental Tournament 2025-26 for Men at the Cricket and Volleyball Grounds. Held under the patronage of the Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, the tournament aims to foster unity among departments, promote physical fitness and encourage healthy competition among students.
The event is conducted under the leadership of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman of the Campus Sports Committee, with coordination by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI and smooth match management by Vikas Karlopia.
In Volleyball, the Physical Education Department displayed dominance by defeating the Design Your Degree Department twice with straight 2-0 set victories, with scores of 25-11, 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19. Meanwhile, the SHTM Department secured a 2-0 win over the Commerce Department, with set scores of 25-16 and 25-13.
In cricket action, the Law School registered a convincing 65-run victory against the Geography Department, posting 190 for 3 in 15 overs, highlighted by individual innings from Abay Tandon (60) and Yuvraj Saini (98). Geography fought back but managed 125 for 9 in their 15 overs, with Sahid Malik taking 2 wickets for 38 runs, while Asam picked up 3 wickets for 20 runs. Similarly, the Law Department defeated the Biotechnology Department by 77 runs, scoring 176 runs for 3 in 15 overs with strong contributions from Sahil Singh (76), Arnav (40) and Idrees (34). The Biotechnology team could only muster 99 for 4 in response, despite Sajjad Hussain’s resilient 50 runs.
