JAMMU, May 5: The day 3 of the University of Jammu’s Inter-Departmental Tournament witnessed electrifying finals in Table Tennis and Chess, marked by fierce competition, strategic brilliance, and vibrant student participation.
Hosted at the University Gymnasium Hall and Table Tennis Hall, the event brought departments together in a spirited showcase of athleticism and mental agility.
The tournament, conducted under the overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, and coordinated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI, saw impressive performances from various departments.
In the Men’s Table Tennis final, the Mathematics Department edged past the Law Department in a gripping 2-1 victory. Displaying exceptional coordination, strategic shot placement, and composure under pressure, the Mathematics team emerged champions after a hard-fought contest.
In the Women’s Table Tennis category, the Physical Education Department defeated the Law Department by the same margin. Despite strong resistance and forcing a decisive third game, the Law team fell short as Physical Education clinched the title with superior reflexes and teamwork.
Chess finals were equally intense. In the Men’s category, the Zoology Department triumphed over the MCA Department in a match marked by strategic depth and mental resilience. Meanwhile, the Physical Education Department continued its stellar performance by winning the Women’s Chess final against the MCA Department.
The matches were officiated by a team of experienced officials including Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, P D Singh, Dr Inderjeet Singh and Anil Singh.
