JU hosts Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho, Judo, Cricket, Hockey tournaments

JAMMU, Oct 7: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized multiple inter-collegiate tournaments, here today.
The Kho-Kho (Men) Tournament kicked off at the University’s Kho-Kho Ground. On the opening day, GDC Paloura narrowly defeated GDC Reasi by 2 points, while GDC Doda recorded two victories against Dogra Degree College and UIET Kathua by margins of 14 and 8 points, respectively. GDC R S Pura also edged out GDC Paloura by a single point.
Simultaneously, the Inter-Collegiate Judo (Women) Championship was held at the University Gymnasium Hall, where GCW Parade dominated the medal tally. Gold medal winners included Vishali Devi (GDC Khour) in the below 48-kg category, Kashish Bhagat (GDC Doda) below 52-kg, Upasana (PG Department JU) below 57-kg, Samreena Kouser (GDC Reasi) below 63-kg, Babli Devi (GDC Reasi) below 70-kg, Anshika Sharma (PG Department JU) below 78-kg, and Niharika Sharma (GCW Parade) above 78-kg. GCW Parade also secured several silver medals, demonstrating remarkable depth and skill.
In the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket (Men) Tournament, GDC Marh secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Dogra Degree College. Batting first, Dogra Degree College was restricted to 113 runs in 15 overs. GDC Marh chased the target in 13.1 overs, scoring 114 for 4 wickets, with Atinder top-scoring at 48 runs and Baljeet contributing 23 runs.
Meanwhile, the final match of the Inter-Collegiate Hockey (Men) Tournament 2025-26, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, was held at K.K. Hakku Stadium, Jammu. PG Department, University of Jammu, defeated GDC Kathua by 6-3 in a thrilling contest that ended 3-3 in regular time and was decided by a penalty shootout. Yogeshwar Rudar scored a hat-trick for the PG Department during the match, while Sukchinder Singh, Yogeshwar Rudar and Sahil Kumar converted penalties to secure the win.
