JAMMU, Oct 6: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized the Inter-Collegiate Hockey (Men) and Judo (Men) Tournaments for the academic session 2025–26.
The Inter-Collegiate Hockey (Men) Tournament was held at KK Hakku Stadium, where the PG Department, University of Jammu, defeated GDC Poonch with a commanding 8–0 victory. Team captain Sukhchinder Singh scored a hat-trick with goals in the 12th, 37th and 60th minutes. Yugeshwar Rudar also netted three goals in the 18th, 50th and 57th minutes, while Sahil Kumar added two goals in the 45th and 54th minutes. Ajay Gupta, Manager of K.K. Hakku Stadium, was the chief guest who interacted with the teams prior to kickoff. The match was officiated by Karanjit Singh, Koushal Sharma, Rishiv Sharma, Harinderpal Singh, Harvinder Singh and S.P.D. Singh. Dignitaries present included Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Dr. Mahak, Ravinder Singh and Richa Mandla.
Simultaneously, the Inter-Collegiate Judo (Men) Tournament was held at the University Gymnasium Hall. Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director of the Directorate, was the chief guest. The gold medallists were: Gagan Singh (60 Kg, GDC Basohli), Bir Bahadur (66 Kg, GDC Basohli), Azad Ali (73 Kg, GDC Reasi), Prikshit Singh (81 Kg, Trikuta Degree College), Gourav Bhagat (90 Kg, Trikuta Degree College), Kapil Singh (100 Kg, Trikuta Degree College) and Tarun Singh (+100 Kg, GDC Kakryal). Trikuta Degree College won the overall championship with 15 points, followed by GDC Basohli in second place. The judo event was officiated by Danish Sharma, Shweta Thakur, Vikas Dogra, Arshi Nad and Jai Bharat.
