JAMMU, Nov 3: The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, today flagged off University’s cricket team for the 21st All India Vice-Chancellors’ Cricket T20 Tournament, scheduled from November 6 to 15, at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar, Haryana.
The squad is led by Raj Kumar Bakshi (Captain-cum-Coach) and Niranjan Singh (Vice-Captain), supported by Mohit Sharma (Manager) and Kamal Nain (Assistant Manager). Prof. Rai encouraged the players to approach each match with determination, discipline, and sportsmanship, carrying the University’s name with pride. He emphasized that such tournaments strengthen teamwork, promote healthy competition, and foster institutional pride.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, and members of the Jammu University Non-Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU), including Dr. Rakesh Chib, Pankaj Gupta and Gurmeet Singh, who extended their best wishes to the team.
