JKUT Yoga Sports C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Aug 31: The JKUT Yoga Sports Championship 2025 was held at Brahma Kumaris’ Om Shanti Meditation Centre, Jammu, organized by the Yoga Association of Jammu & Kashmir under the aegis of the J&K Olympic Association. Over 160 participants from various districts across the UT took part in the event.
The Championship was inaugurated with a candle lighting ceremony by the Brahma Kumaris in the presence of Patron-in-Chief Sudarshan Didi, Col. Sundar Singh Bishat was the chief guest and Ravinder Bali was the guest of honour. Also present were Vinod Bhatia (General Secretary YAJK), Ashwani Katoch, Rajinder Kumar, Sonia Sharma, Veena Chib and Sunita Raina. The event was officiated by national referees Dayal Ram, Mukesh Sharma, Rajesh Bandral, Anoushka Koul, Sabita Sharma and Aryaaveer Singh.
In the 8-10 years category, winners included Satyam, Kriday Sawhney and Akshit Sharma among boys and Urvashi, Bhawani and Gursimran among girls. In 10-12 years, Parth Samnotra, Aadhya Gupta and Hitesh Pangotra won in boys, while Aliya Akhter, Paavani and Bhavya Sharma triumphed in girls. For 12-14 years, Arun Kumar, Rohit Verma and Navjot Singh led among boys and Gunjan Sharma, Sadhya Sharma and Veenakshi among girls. In 14-16 years, Akshi Sharma, Nitya and Abhay Kumar topped boys; Mridul Raj Gupta, Akhilesh Choudhary and Harshita Kour led girls. In 16-18 years, boys’ winners were Romil Bhat, Sandeep Kumar and Shaurya Bandral; girls’ were Chahat and Anahita. In 18-21 years, Surender Rajput and Himanshu were winners in boys, while Aditi Verma and Nandini Sharma won in girls. Aryaaveer Singh, JKUT’s first-ever Senior National Yoga medalist in the professional group, was specially honoured.
