JAMMU, Oct 8: The day-long Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Sub-Junior Judo Championship concluded at Bhagwati Nagar Stadium, here today, witnessing participation of nearly 100 judokas selected from various district championships across J&K. The event was organized by the Judo Association of Jammu and Kashmir under the banner of the J&K Sports Council.
Ritika Slathia, Manager of Bhagwati Nagar Stadium, declared the championship open, while Suraj Sharma, Honorary General Secretary of the Judo Association of J&K, was the chief guest who distributed medals and certificates among the winners. The bouts were officiated by senior J&K Sports Council judo coaches Arshi Nad, Vikas Dogra, Danish Sharma, Yashika Jamwal and Sajjan Sharma. Munish Chatwal served as the Organizing Secretary.
The championship witnessed fierce competition across multiple weight categories for both boys and girls. In the girls’ category, medal winners were Alina (Reasi) and Surbhi (Jammu) in 28 kg; Manya (Jammu) in 32 kg; Anshika (Kathua), Vanshika (Udhampur), Shalu and Arshiya (Jammu) in 36 kg; Pratimea Sharma (Udhampur), Sonia Devi (Kathua), Fatima (Srinagar), and Rashita (Jammu) in 40 kg; Monika (Jammu), Shagufta (Kathua), Ajmat (Ganderbal), and Maisha (Srinagar) in 44 kg; Baiza (Ganderbal), Ruhi (Jammu), Sarika (Kathua), and Ruksana (Reasi) in 48 kg; Aisha Hassan (Ganderbal), Sunaina (Kathua), and Rajshee (Jammu) in 52 kg; Aiza (Srinagar), Priyanka (Reasi), and Kritika (Jammu) in 57 kg; and Rafusina (Ganderbal) and Ananya (Jammu) in above 57 kg.
In the boys’ category, medallists included Mohd Naveed (Rajouri), Balwan Singh (Reasi), Mayank Thakur (Kishtwar), and Udhay Partap (Jammu) in 30 kg; Arayveer Singh (Udhampur), Piyush (Jammu) and Vihiayat (Kathua) in 35 kg; Abid Bashir (Ganderbal), Usman Ali (Kathua), Mohd Tariq (Reasi), and Zulfkar (Jammu) in 40 kg; Zabir Ahmed (Reasi), Jaishewar Paraley (Kathua), and Suryansh Raina (Rajouri) in 45 kg; Mansoor (Ganderbal), Sahil Akhter (Kathua), Danish Thakur (Udhampur), and Shakeel Khan (Reasi) in 50 kg; Suleman (Jammu), Jasbir (Srinagar), and Sarfraj (Rajouri) in 55 kg; Shuvaim (Ganderbal), Zaheer (Jammu), and Viraj (Kathua) in 60 kg; Rahul Kumar (Reasi), Lakshya, and Abhay Partap (Jammu) in 66 kg; and Adwan (Jammu) and Ahmed (Srinagar) in above 66 kg.
