JKUT Masters Badminton C’ship begins

JAMMU, Mar 1: The Yonex-Sunrise J&K UT Masters (Veteran) Badminton Championships 2025, organized by the Badminton Association of J&K in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, got underway at the Police Line Badminton Hall, Jammu. The championship was inaugurated by Dr OD Sharma, Vice President of BAI and Chairman of BAJK, in the presence of DV Sharma (President BAJK), Dushyant Sharma (Treasurer BAJK), officials Balbir Jamwal, Basanti Bhat, Pawanjit Singh and Sukhdev Singh, in-charge of the venue. Around 100 players from across the UT are participating.
In the Men’s Singles 35+ category, Suhail was defeated by Mudasir Ahmad with scores of 8-21 and 10-21. In MS-40, Abdul Shakoor went down to Lokesh Sharma by 18-21, 19-21.
The MS-45 match saw Sanjay Kumar emerge victorious over Koushal Kumar. In MS-50, Vivek Mehta defeated Ajatshatru by 21-17, 21-14, while in MS-55, Sanjeev Arora overcame RK Dubey with scores of 21-12 and 21-17.
In the MS-60 category, Daljit Singh advanced to the next round via walkover against Romesh Sharma. Matches are being conducted under the supervision of Chief Referee Rahul Sharma, with competitions in singles, doubles and mixed doubles across various veteran age groups, promising thrilling action over the coming days.
