SRINAGAR, June 25: The closing ceremony of the J&K Taekwondo Association Cup 2025 was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, here today. The two-day Championship, organized by the J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 700 athletes across all districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
The event which was held in memory of Late D. N. Pangotra, former President of JKTA, concluded with a colourful felicitation ceremony for winners and standout performers.
Chief Guest, Nusrat Gazalla, Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir, applauded the spirit and dedication of the young athletes and highlighted the crucial role such events play in building a sports culture. She was joined by dignitaries Adv. Neelofar Masood (Vice President, JKTA), Nighat Shafi (Founder, HELP Foundation), and Gautam Shukla (Special Guest), who praised the organizing team’s efforts in promoting Taekwondo in the UT.
The championship was led by Rajesh Pangotra (President, JKTA), Ramesh Chander Sharma (General Secretary) and Burhan Ud Din Khan (Chairman, Organising Committee; Director, GameOn Foundation), supported by Vinod Kumar (Office Secretary), Nisar Hussain (Senior Vice President), Ashaq Hussain (Senior Coach) and Pankaj Kumar (Vice President, District Samba).
Prominent Taekwondo players and coaches present included Zaheer Abbass Khan, Syed Ariz Nabi, Mohin Sharma, Rohit Sharma (Khelo India, Srinagar), Vishesh Thakur (Khelo India, Kathua), Aqib Gulzar (Khelo India, Shopian), Pushap Thakur (DYSS), Virender Singh Manhas, Bipin Kumar and Anees Bhat.
Maqsood Ahmed Khan (Manager, SKISC), Waseem Khan (MD, Colour World) and Narinder Singh Bali also graced the occasion.
Winners in various categories were awarded medals and certificates. District Srinagar, Jammu, and Kathua emerged as top-performing teams. Ramesh Chander Sharma extended gratitude to Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, for her ongoing support in developing Taekwondo across the region.
