JKP’s Nadeem wins Shiv Khori Kesari Dangal title

REASI, Feb 28: Wrestler Nadeem from J&K Police, hailing from Doda, clinched the prestigious 27th Shiv Khori Kesari Dangal title by defeating Sumit of Guru Leelu Akhada, Haryana. Nadeem was awarded Rs 15,000 along with the traditional “Gurj” and “Patta” for his victory.
In the second main bout, Surjit Singh, also from J&K Police (Reasi), triumphed over Jatinder Pandu of Haryana, winning Rs 10,000, while the runner-up received Rs 8,000. The third bout saw Fiza of J&K Police (Billawar) defeated Sumit from RS Pura, Jammu, earning Rs 6,000, while the runner-up received Rs 4,000.
The 27th edition of the Shiv Khori Kesari Annual Vishal Dangal was held at Ransoo, the base camp of the holy Shiv Khori shrine, on the eve of Maha Shivratri. The event, locally known as Chinj, was organized by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association with support from the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, District Administration, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) and the Shiv Khori Dangal Committee. The event was held under the overall supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and former Sarpanch Bhagwan Singh.
The Dangal was graced by DDC Member Kewal Krishan Sharma, who was the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Naib Tehsildar Ransoo Ranjeet Singh, SHO Ransoo Lalit Sharma, and Sub Inspector Pouni Varinder Singh.
Shiv Kumar Sharma expressed gratitude for the financial assistance provided by the Director Tourism Jammu, Vikas Gupta and Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik, as well as the support from various members and technical officials.
