JKP wrestler clinches 28th Shiv Khori Kesari Dangal title

REASI, Feb 17: Wrestler Surjeet Singh of J&K Police clinched the prestigious 28th Shiv Khori Kesari Dangal title by defeating Kanhaiya Jatt of Dinanagar, Punjab, in a thrilling main bout held at Ransoo in Reasi district on the eve of Maha Shivratri.
The traditional Vishal Dangal, popularly known as Chinj, was organised at the base camp of the holy Shiv Khori shrine by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with the Tourism Department, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board and Shiv Khori Dangal Committee, Ransoo, under the supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma.
DDC Member Kewal Krishan was the chief guest, while several prominent personalities were present on the occasion. Surjeet Singh was awarded a cash prize of Rs 12,000 along with the traditional ‘Gurj and Patta’, while runner-up Kanhaiya Jatt received Rs 9,000. In the second main bout, Fiza of J&K Police, Billawar, defeated Fariyad of Bishanpur, Dinanagar and won Rs 9,000, while the latter got Rs 6,000. Another bout saw Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, beating Bablu of Basantgarh, Ramnagar. Kulbir was awarded Rs 9,000 and Bablu Rs 6,000. In the third bout, Sunil of Kot Bhalwal defeated Vijay of Bai Bajalta to claim Rs 6,000, while Vijay received Rs 4,000. As many as 46 bouts were played, attracting wrestlers from J&K and neighbouring States.
Members who help for this dangal included DDC member Kewal Krishan Sharma( President), Former Sarpanch Bhagwan Singh, Ramesh Chander Kohli (Bittu), Pawan Kohli, Vijay Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Rattan Singh, Rajesh Singh Nag, Kapoor Singh, Sat Paul Singh, Karnail Singh, Prem Singh, Sunil Kumar, Bal Chand, Sansar Chand, Ranjeet Kumar, Chain Kumar and Sohan Singh.
