JKP to take on Army, STC Warriors to face Terriers

JAMMU, Dec 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police will face 25 Mech, while defending champions STC warriors will take on their own Juniors STC Terriers in the semifinals of the ongoing senior state basketball championship.
In their last pool outing, STC warriors outclassed 25 Mech of the Army, 94-51. While J&K Police bt STC Terriers 88-54. In both the matches, the defeated teams gave anxious moments to the winners at least in the first two quarters. While Warriors were held by the 25 Mech 41-32 till the breather, Jaskirat and Amanjot demoralized Armymen by successive 3-pointers in the penultimate quarter. They were ably assisted by Shubham, Hritik and Salinder on the boards. J&K police also displayed their strength especially from the paint, with Iqbal Singh carrying his team on his shoulders through the match. From the Terriers, Inderjeet Singh, Rohan Kundal and Haroon Tufail combined well to give policemen a run for their money.
In other matches of the day, Srinagar district bt Jammu district (B) 43-19, Warriors beat Srinagar District 57-34, Kathua district drubbed Udhampur district 48-17. In women section, Jammu district outplayed Srinagar district 24-05, while STC got the better of Kathua district 31-03.
The semifinals will be played tomorrow.
