JKOA holds meet, constitutes award committees

JAMMU, Apr 8: Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKCA) today held a meeting to discuss the evolving sports scenario, here and constituted various committees for Rangil Singh Sports Awards.
“The meeting was held to finalise arrangements for the Rangil Singh Sports Awards. The house was informed that nearly 40 resumes were received so far from outstanding sportspersons and coaches for different categories of awards. Various committees were constituted for the smooth and flawless conduct of the award function during the meeting,” informed president of the JKOA, Dr Ashutosh Sharma.
“The members of associations have been categorically told not to charge beyond Rs 50 for district level competitions and not more than Rs 100 for UT level competitions. If any member unit of the Association found charging more entry fee, strict action will be taken against them,” warned Dr Ashutosh.
Earlier, general secretary of the JKOA, Dushyant Sharma reviewed the performance of the member units (sports associations) and advised them to cover all the districts in their domestic activities with an aim to spread the game to all parts of the UT. He also announced that the final date for the Award function would be announced soon.
The meeting was joined by former Sports Minister, Yogesh Sawhney, along with Kuldeep Singh (Shooting), Balbir Singh Jamwal (Badminton), Manmeet Singh (Kho-Kho), Kiran Wattal (Gymnastics), Kuldeep Gupta (Kabaddi), Rajan Sharma (Boxing), Kuljeet Singh (Basketball), Sunil Sharma (Archery), Ravinder Singh (Cycling), Vikas Gupta (Judo), Satwant Singh Gill (Cycling), Tarsem Sharma (Jijutsu), Narinder Mahajan (Handball), Ravinder Singh (Athletics), Ravinder Singh (Tug of War), Vijay Kumar Magotra (Volleyball), Vinod Bhatia (Yoga), Dr Taran Singh (Hockey), Jai Bharat (Boxing), Sahil Sharma and Ravi Salgotra (Cycling).
