JAMMU, June 29: Jammu & Kashmir Masters Games Association (JKMGA) honoured outstanding performers, conveners and sports promoters for their contributions to the 7th National Masters Games held in Dharamshala.
Ranjit Singh Chib, former SSP, international handball player and President of JKMGA, inaugurated the event, emphasizing that age is no barrier to athletic excellence. 110 athletes from J&K participated in 11 disciplines, winning 87 medals (44 gold, 28 silver and 15 bronze).
Conveners honoured included Ajay Sharma (Athletics), David Sandhu (Swimming), Late Virinder Sharma (Judo), Er. Rajiv Sharma (Table Tennis), Dayal Singh (Weightlifting), Ramesh Sharma (Badminton), Bhanu Pratap & Mousami Verma (Basketball), Anil Abrol (Chess) and Neete Kaur (Powerlifting/Handball).
Special recognition was given to Dr. Sonia Chib, Chef-de-Mission Praval Sharma, Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Sandeep Gupta, Mamta Bajaj, Renu Ratan, Vinay Sharma for their significant contributions.
Neete Kaur was also honoured for being the first woman from J&K to participate in the World Masters Games 2025 in Taipei. Romesh Sharma (3 golds) and Danish Yousuf (5 golds, 2 national records) were top awardees. Prominent guests included Deepak Honda; Ranjot Singh Nalwa and sports journalists Vikas Abrol, Ranjit Thakur, Sanjay Puri and Kunal Duggar were also honoured. The event was conducted by Mamta Bajaj.
