SRINAGAR, Feb 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Mountain Biking Association (JKMBA) celebrated its Annual Day at Nigeen Club, commemorating the remarkable cycling achievements of 2024. The event was attended by Mehmood Ahmad Shah, MD of KPDCL, as the chief guest and JKMBA President Riyaz Ahmad Wani highlighted the association’s milestones, including the total kilometres covered by members and top performances throughout the year.
The event recognized the outstanding contributions of cyclists such as Sajad Yousuf Chotta, Yasir Yousuf Makhdoomi, Dr. Riaz Ahmad Sofi, Irfan Ahmad Mir, and Nazir Ahmad Wani. Other notable performances were acknowledged from Dr. Sheikh Tariq, Dr. Zaffar Ahmad, Jaleed ul Mushtaq and Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir.
Prominent sports organizations from the Valley, including representatives from the JK Mountaineering and Adventure Club, Kashmir Mountain Biking Association, Badamwari Athletes, Kashmir Runners Club and Flying Machine Cycling Club, were also invited to the celebration. A key highlight of the event was the launch of JKMBA’s junior wing, designed to nurture young cycling talent in the region.
The evening also saw several awards, with Irfan Mir, Sajad Yousuf Chotta and others being recognized for their exceptional performances. The Annual Day reinforced JKMBA’s commitment to promoting cycling and adventure sports in Kashmir.
