JAMMU, Jan 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has extended significant support to two of the Union Territory’s deaf cricketers by providing them with high-quality cricketing equipment ahead of the Deaf Asia Cup 2026. Wicketkeeper-batter Umar Ashraf Beigh and all-rounder Hilal Wani, both selected in the Indian squad, were presented with premium kitbags and gear during a ceremony held at the JKCA Hostel Ground, Jammu.
The equipment was handed over by Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration, JKCA, who reiterated the association’s commitment to inclusive development and grassroots cricket. The kits include professional bats, batting pads, shoes, gloves, wicketkeeping equipment and durable kitbags to ensure the players are fully prepared for international competition.
The Deaf Asia Cup will commence on January 18 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha. With two players from J&K in the 16-member Indian team, the initiative highlights JKCA’s role in promoting equal opportunities and nurturing emerging talent across all sections of society.
