JKCA honours Ranji Team with certificates, silver coins

JAMMU, Feb 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) today honoured the members of the ‘History Maker’ Ranji Trophy team for their outstanding performance in the 2024-25 seasons. In a grand ceremony held at the JKCA Headquarters in Jammu, the players were presented with appreciation certificates and silver coins as a token of gratitude for their remarkable achievements.
The JKCA Sub-Committee Members, including Brigadier Anil Gupta, Mithun Manhas and Adv. Sunil Sethi, addressed the gathering and expressed their pride in the team’s accomplishments. Brigadier Gupta credited the team’s success to a well-structured process that involved providing quality facilities, exposure tours, and the necessary resources to the players.
Mithun Manhas shared that since the JKCA took over in 2021, a focused approach had been adopted to improve the players’ skills and prepare them for national tournaments.
The team’s impressive performance during the season, which included topping Group A and remaining undefeated throughout, was also celebrated. Brigadier Gupta recalled some key moments from the tournament, such as the first-innings lead against Maharashtra, a dominant victory over Baroda and a close miss in the Quarter-Finals against Kerala. Adv. Sethi emphasized that this performance had firmly established J&K on the national cricket map.
Captain Paras Dogra was specially honoured for his leadership and memorable catch against Ajinkya Rahane. Other players, including Shubham Khajuria, Abdul Samad, Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Aquib Nabi, were recognized for their individual achievements throughout the season.
The coaching and support staff’s, including Head Coach Ajay Sharma, Bowling Coach P Krishna Kumar and Fielding Coach Dishant Yagnik, were also appreciated for their vital role in guiding the team.
