JKAACL presents Best Photography awards

JAMMU, June 30: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized 5th and 6th Photography Exhibition and also presented the awards for 5th and 6th Photography for the years 2014-15.
On the occasion, Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu inaugurated the exhibition and also presented the awards in presence of Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present on the dias.
Anjali Sharma exaggerated that such awards play an important role for the encouragement of the important creative activity like photography which with the presence of their wisdom they portray the social issues through such medium.
Dr Aziz Hajini said that the Award ceremonies, which were abounded for the years together for one or the other reasons, are being organized. The day after yesterday, JKAACL presented Best Book Awards for 2013 at Tagore Hall, Srinagar followed by exhibition of rare Quranic Manuscripts. He said that Academy is trying its level best to deliver best and also sought co-operation of fraternities of art, culture and languages.
Those who were given best Photography Award for the year 2013-14 were Anand Sharma (f1st), Adnan Ali Zahidani (2nd) and Arshed Hussain (3rd). The four consolation prizes were clinched by Syed Hamza, Choudhary Sunder, Surjeet Singh and Tumul Magotra. Similarly, the first three top positions for the 6th Photography Exhibition 2014-15 went in favour of Satish Chalotra (1st) Amrit Kaur (2nd) and M Akram Khan (3rd) whereas the consolation prizes were captured by OP Sharma, Pankaj Kumar and Parveen Kumar. The amount of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes and consolation were Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 1,000.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of the Academy presented vote of thanks, while the proceeding of the programme were conducted by Anil Tickoo, Asstt Cultural Officer of the Academy.
