JAMMU, June 5: The Jammu & Kashmir Wushu team delivered a remarkable performance at the 25th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship held in Coimbatore, bagging a total of 10 medals including 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze.
Geenakshi Mehra and Kratavya Verma secured Gold medals for the Union Territory. Hiranya Mahajan won two Silver medals, Praznath Wangoo added Silver, while Dhruvika Gupta claimed two Bronze medals. Mohd Amaanullah and Rudransh Sanyal also brought home Bronze medals.
The team was trained at a 21-day coaching camp organised by the J&K Sports Council in Jammu and was screened on May 22. Appu Jamwal accompanied the team as Coach. Selection trials were conducted by the Wushu Association of J&K on May 2-3, 2025, following guidelines from the Sports Council.
Kuldeep Handoo congratulated all medallists and praised Geenakshi Mehra and Kratavya Verma for their exceptional achievements. He thanked LG Manoj Sinha, CM, Omar Abdullah, Sports Minister Satish Sharma, Commissioner Secretary (YSS), Sarmad Hafeez and Secretery JKSC, Nuzhat Gul for their support. Vijay Saraf, Ranjeet Kalra and Bhavneet also congratulated the team.
