J&K Women’s U-15 team clinches thrilling 2 run victory over Uttarakhand

JAMMU, Jan 2: The Jammu & Kashmir Women’s U-15 cricket team registered a nail-biting 2-run victory over a strong Uttarakhand side in the Women’s U-15 One-Day Trophy match played at VCA Kalamna, Nagpur, today.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, J&K posted a competitive total of 122 for 9 in their allotted 35 overs. Gurkirat Kour anchored the innings with a determined 24 off 46 balls. She received valuable support from Dhanya Sharma, who contributed 21 runs, Gaurangi Sharma with 16 and skipper Shweta Rana, who chipped in with 13 runs. For Uttarakhand, Sonakshi delivered an impressive bowling spell, claiming 3 wickets, while Shiksha Kohli picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, Uttarakhand fought hard but fell heartbreakingly short, getting bowled out for 120 in 34.5 overs. Kavleen top-scored with 25 runs, followed by Sonakshi with 20 and Vedika Ahlawat with 15.
J&K’s bowlers held their nerves in the tense final overs, with Manvi Sharma emerging as the standout performer, scalping 3 wickets for 19 runs in 6.5 overs. Skipper Shweta Rana claimed 2 crucial wickets, while Sonakshi Sharma, Dhanya Sharma and Gurkirat Kour picked up one wicket each to seal the thrilling win. The J&K team is touring under the guidance of former First-Class cricketer Amit Pal Singh as Head Coach.
