JAMMU, Jan 12: On the third day of the ongoing National Aerobic Gymnastics Championship 2023-24, gymnasts from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) delivered exceptional performances, winning several medals, including two gold.
In the Individual Women’s Final (Youth), Avantka Deepak Sanap from Maharashtra took the gold, Arushi Gupta from J&K won the silver, and Faida Khatoon from West Bengal secured the bronze. The medals were awarded by Yudhvir Sethi, MLA Jammu East, who attended the event as the chief guest, with Manvinder Singh, an international gymnast, present as the guest of honour.
In the Mixed Pair Final (Youth), the gold was claimed by Maharashtra’s Akshaya Niraj Kalantri and Aaryan Sandeep Phule. J&K’s Rudraksh Khanna and Divyanshi secured the silver, and Tanishk Turner and Aarya Kathane took the bronze. The medals were presented by Nirmal Kotwal, President of the Jammu Bar Association, with Manpreet Kour, International Judge, as the guest of honour.
In the Trio Final (Youth), J&K’s Divyanshi Mahant, Rudraksh Khanna, and Arushi Gupta won the gold. Karnataka clinched the silver, and Gujarat earned the bronze. The medals were awarded by Syed Asgar Ali, Ex-MLC, with Tejpal Kour as the guest of honour.
Rudraksh Khanna also won the gold in the Individual Men’s Final (Youth), with Parth A. Barbudhe from Maharashtra taking the silver and Parth Sukhadia from Gujarat securing the bronze. The medals were presented by Hira Lal Abrol, Chairman of Health India, with Vasu Bidiwala, National Judge, as the guest of honour.
In the Aero Dance (Junior), Maharashtra secured the bronze, Karnataka won the silver, and Chandigarh took the gold. The medals were awarded by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of Government Medical College Jammu, with Sagar Bidiwala as the guest of honour.
In the Group Final (Senior), Maharashtra won the gold, Gujarat claimed the silver, and Chandigarh took the bronze. The medals were awarded by Rajesh Gupta, Chairman of the Tourism Federation Jammu, with Natasha Sharma, National Judge, as the guest of honour.
In the Mixed Pair Final (Senior), Maharashtra’s Mansi Deshmukh and Shripad Haral took the gold, Gujarat’s Nishnat Chouhan and Prakruti Shinde won the silver, and West Bengal’s Sujata Singh and Soumik Doluji secured the bronze. The medals were presented by Abdul Majid Bhat, former Secretary of the Department of Law and Justice, as the chief guest, with Pradeep Tiwari, Chief Scorer of the competition, as the guest of honour.
For the Group Final (Junior), Maharashtra won the gold, West Bengal earned the silver, and Karnataka took the bronze. The medals were awarded by Vikram Randhawa, MLA, with Mayna Mitra, National Judge, as the guest of honour.
In the Step Final (Senior), Maharashtra claimed the gold, Jharkhand won the silver, and Chandigarh secured the bronze. The medals were awarded by Haji Abdul Qayoom, Ex-Chief Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, with Peerzada Khazir Mohammad and Abdul Majeed as guests of honour.
Kiran Wattal, Vice-President of the Gymnastics Federation of India and President of the Gymnastics Association of J&K, expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for providing top-quality gymnastics facilities in J&K. Wattal also expressed gratitude to Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council, for their continued support. He urged the Government to fully support the Gymnastics Academy by providing boarding and lodging facilities for J&K gymnasts, enabling them to participate in international competitions and bring medals to the State and the country.
