JAMMU, May 7: In a significant achievement, Jammu and Kashmir Volleyball team has stormed into the finals of the prestigious Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 being held in Patna. The team secured its place in the title clash after a commanding straight-sets victory over Manipur in the semifinals, winning by 27-25, 25-21 and 26-18.
During the league stage, Jammu and Kashmir delivered an impressive performance. The team edged past a strong Uttarakhand side in a nail-biting five-set thriller (3-2), registered a clean sweep over host Bihar (3-0), and faced a lone defeat against Uttar Pradesh (1-3). With semifinal win, J&K will now face Uttar Pradesh once again in the much-anticipated final match scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue.
The team’s success is being supported by a strong coaching and administrative staff. Javid Ur Rehman, Sports Officer Central, J&K Sports Council, is accompanying the team as Chef de Mission (CDM). The coaching team includes chief coach Naresh Kumar from the Department of Youth Services and Sports and assistant coach Prateek Kumar from the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
