J&K Veterans script win in Martyrs Cup

JAMMU, Feb 16: J&K Veterans Cricket Club (JKVCC) registered emphatic win over OTOD Cricket Club by 7 wickets in ongoing Martyrs Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at KC Cricket Ground, here today.
Earlier, Gourav Gupta General Secretary Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu was chief guest at the function. He appreciated the efforts of J&K Veterans Cricket Association for giving a platform to active and passionate veteran cricketers to play active and competitive cricket.
In today’s match OTOD captain Ajay Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 170 runs in 18.4 overs. Ave Kachroo, Rishab and Shivam contributed 42, 40 and 27 runs respectively to the total. From the bowling side, Sachin Jamwal, Rajesh and Ajeet took 2 wickets each, while Vivek, Bhanu and Naseer Bandey got 1 wicket each.
Chasing a good total of 171 runs to win, J&K Veterans Cricket Club lost the wicket of Amit at 6 runs but Bhanu and Anshu shared partnership of 48 runs before Anshu was retired hurt at 23 runs. Bhanu was merciless to all bowlers and single handedly took the team to victory in 15.4 overs with a brilliantly studded 104 runs in just 50 balls with five towering sixes and 13 boundaries. JKVCC won the match by 7 wickets.
Bhanu Gupta was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
