JAMMU, Aug 18: The much-awaited Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Taekwondo Championship began with great zeal and sporting fervor in Jammu, bringing together young martial arts talent from across the region.
The event is being organized by the Taekwondo Association of Jammu and Kashmir (TAJK) under the aegis of “India Taekwondo”, which is duly recognized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, “World Taekwondo” and Indian Olympic Association.
This Championship has drawn the participation of nearly 350 budding Taekwondo athletes representing 12 districts of the Union Territory, making it a significant platform for the promotion of the sport and nurturing of grassroots talent.
The opening ceremony was graced by Shailender Singh, SSP Railways & Crime, who attended as the chief guest, while Irshad Hussain Rather, SP Headquarters Jammu, was present as the guest of honour.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of prominent office bearers and dignitaries including Kirti Lal Jain (general secretary TAJK), Narinder Sharma (vice president), Tarsem Sharma (working president), Ravinder Sharma (treasurer) and Pawan Singh Jamwal (senior-most Taekwondo Coach).
The championship opened on an energetic note as young athletes showcased remarkable skill, grit, and sporting spirit on the mat, setting the tone for the high-octane contests ahead.
All the matches are being conducted under the overall technical supervision of Rajinder Singh (National Referee & Technical Director of the Championship), who is being assisted by a competent panel of referees and officials.
The panel includes Mannat Sharma (National Referee), Mansha Bashir (National Referee), Tiseef Tahir (National Referee), Burhan (National Referee), Inayat (National Referee), alongside experienced officials Gitansh, Abass, Vishvas Sudan, Haseeb Imtiaz, Ayush Mahajan, Hardin Gupta and Kartik.
