JAMMU, Jan 11: The J&K UT Gymnastics Championship concluded at the Gymnastics Hall, MA Stadium, here today with impressive performances by young gymnasts from across the Union Territory. Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commandant BSF, attended as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Nuzhat Gul appreciated the Gymnastics Association of J&K for successfully organising district championships in five districts of the Kashmir province and six districts of the Jammu province. She announced that Jammu district emerged as the overall champion of the championship, while Kathua district secured the second position.
Assuring full support from the J&K Sports Council and the Government, she disclosed that a Gymnastics Academy will soon be established in Srinagar. She also lauded Er. Kiran Wattal, President, Gymnastics Association of J&K and Vice President, Gymnastics Federation of India, for his dedicated efforts in promoting gymnastics in J&K over the last four to five years.
The proceedings of the closing ceremony were conducted by Satyam Gupta, President, Jammu District Gymnastics Association. Among others present were Anishwar Chatterji Kaul, General Secretary, Jammu District Gymnastics Association; Rajan Sharma, Chairman, Activity Committee, Anil Khajuria, Senior Vice President, Gymnastics Association, Tejinder Singh, Associate Secretary, Sunil Sharma, General Secretary, Archery Association, Ajay Sharma, General Secretary, Table Tennis Association and M. Magotra from the Volleyball Association. Er. Kiran Wattal, in his address, thanked Nuzhat Gul, Sports Minister Satish Sharma, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for their wholehearted support towards the development of gymnastics in J&K.
In the closing day competitions, Myra won gold, Rida silver and Pragya Gupta bronze in Under-12 girls vaulting horse. In Under-14 girls vaulting horse, Anubhooti secured first place, followed by Preena, while Shivanshi Gupta and Rogya Mahajan shared third position. Rivka Bansal clinched gold in Under-17 girls vaulting horse, with Samya Sharma and Sadhya Sharma finishing second and third respectively.
In boys’ events, Sanmay Gupta won Under-8 floor exercise, followed by Privanshu and Anirudh, while Mayank Sharma finished third. Under-12 floor exercise was won by Samarth Khajuria, with Avikan Gupta second and Mankirat Singh third. Pratik topped Under-14 floor exercise, followed by Ashisva Proch and Trishisva Proch. Deepesh Dogra claimed gold in Under-17 floor exercise, ahead of Debansh Sharma and Kavya Sharma, while Samarth Khajuria won Under-19 floor exercise, with Shine Sharma Rahotra and Ratesh Rahotra securing second and third places.
In vaulting horse events, Trishiv, Prateek and Laksh dominated Under-14 boys. Deepesh Dogra, Kavya Sharma and Devansh Sharma secured the top three positions in Under-17, while Shivam Verma, Shine Sharma and Madhav finished first, second and third respectively in Under-19 boys vaulting horse.
Rhythmic Gymnastics Results: In Under-8 free hand rhythmic gymnastics, Shivani Sharma secured first position, Purvanshi Rana finished second, while Ashita Rajput, Ahana and Kashvi Sharma jointly claimed third place. In Under-10 free hand, Meera won gold, followed by Av Noor and Aziza. In the Under-10 hoop event, Meera again topped the podium, Avni secured second place, while Manya and Krushika shared third position.
In Under-12 hoop, Kalyani clinched first place, Shagun finished second and Pallavi secured third. Under-14 hoop was won by Tavleen, followed by Aliya, with Vritika in third position. In Under-14 ball, Tavleen again took first place, Aliya second and Manika third.
Under-14 clubs saw Tavleen finish first, Aliya second and Vritika third, while in ribbon Tavleen topped the event, Aliya finished second and Manika third. Tavleen emerged overall Under-14 champion, followed by Aliya and Manika.
In Under-17 events, Advaita won hoop, ball and clubs, with Triza finishing second and Prachi third in all three. In ribbon, Triza secured first place, followed by Advaita, while Anika finished third. Overall Under-17 girls title was won by Advaita, with Triza second and Prachi third.
In Under-12 ball, Kalyani secured gold, followed by Shagun and Jasmen. In Under-12 clubs, Kalyani again topped the podium, Pallavi finished second and Jasmen third. In Under-12 ribbon, Kalyani claimed first place, Shagun and Jasmen shared second, while Sanvi and Pallavi jointly finished third.
In senior rhythmic gymnastics, Muskan won hoop and ribbon, while Vaibhavi claimed first place in clubs. Muskan emerged overall senior champion, followed by Vaibhavi and Manya.
Aerobic Gymnastics: In National Development individual men, Ashisva secured first place and Devin Abio second. In women’s category, Ekam won gold, followed by Inya. In Youth individual men, Prateek finished first and Trishasva second, while in women’s category Shagun won gold, followed by Hargun and Akira. In Junior individual men, Rudraksh secured first place. In Junior individual women, Ayman finished first, followed by Divyanshi, while Sharanya and Soundarya jointly finished third. In Junior trio event, Rudraksh, Divyanshi and Ayman secured the top three positions.
Artistic Gymnastics: In Under-8 boys floor exercise, Kristina Razdan won gold, Gaurika Gupta claimed silver and Nivanshi Thapa finished third. In Under-14 girls vaulting horse, Amubhooti secured first place, Preena second, while Shivanshi Gupta and Ragya Mahajan shared third position. In Under-17 girls vaulting horse, Rivka Bansal clinched first place, followed by Somya Sharma, with Sadhya Sharma finishing third.
