JAMMU, June 30: ICC Panel Umpire Anil Chaudhary lauded the enthusiasm and dedication of participants attending the ongoing Umpires Clinic organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at the JKCA Hostel Ground, Jammu. Describing the aspirants as “fit for the job,” Chaudhary cited their fitness, keenness to learn, discipline and body language as standout qualities.
The clinic, which began on June 28, features 17 shortlisted candidates, including 14 males and 3 females, and will conclude on July 2 with a written exam.
“Umpiring is a thankless job, but one that brings immense satisfaction when done well,” Chaudhary said. He emphasized that good umpiring at the grassroots level directly impacts the health of players and the cricketing ecosystem.
Stressing on body language and discipline, he advised aspirants to focus solely on decision-making. “One poor decision can impact on player’s career,” he noted, adding that professionalism and honesty are essential traits.
Chaudhary, who has officiated in 226 IPL matches and the 2022 Asia Cup final, said quality umpiring is vital for fair team selection and long-term player development. He encouraged the aspirants to enjoy the game while maintaining neutrality and focus.
