SRINAGAR, July 3: In a major boost to sports development in Union Territory, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K, will host the 69th National School Games in four disciplines-Football, Wushu, Taekwondo and Table Tennis-this season.
The decision was finalized at a recent SGFI (School Games Federation of India) meeting at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. J&K’s delegation included Jatinder Mishra, Deputy Director Central (YSS) and Shivnandan Singh Mankotia, Section Officer.
The games will be split between Srinagar (Football & Wushu) and Jammu (Taekwondo & Table Tennis). After successfully hosting the 68th edition in Fencing, Wushu, Judo and Football last season, DYSS is preparing to deliver another well-organized sporting spectacle.
Anuradha Gupta, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, expressed gratitude to SGFI, stating, “We are honoured to be chosen again. Hosting these prestigious games highlights J&K’s growing stature as a sporting hub and will inspire youth to embrace sports as a way of life.”
The event will attract top young athletes from across India, promoting sportsmanship and showcasing J&K’s potential as a national sporting destination.
