JAMMU, Nov 21: Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up to host the Junior National Roll Ball Championship from December 29, 2025, to January 1, 2026, at Maulana Azad Stadium and another venue yet to be finalized. The championship is expected to see participation from around 25 States and Union Territories, highlighting the growing popularity of Roll Ball across India.
An official of the J&K Roll Ball Association said, “It is an honour for the Union Territory and the J&K Roll Ball Association to host the Junior National Championship. All arrangements and preparations are being reviewed to ensure a successful conduct of the event.” He added that J&K had previously hosted the Senior National and North Zone Championships in 2023, and this will be the third national-level event under the Roll Ball Federation of India (RBFI) in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
The official also noted that despite the sport’s rapid rise in J&K and athletes winning national and international medals, Roll Ball is yet to be included in the SO-12 list, which provides employment opportunities to successful athletes. He appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah, also President of the J&K Sports Council, to consider its inclusion to motivate and support local talent.
