JAMMU, Nov 20: Jammu & Kashmir Softball players today held a press conference to address recent allegations made by the National Softball Players Forum against the J&K Sports Council and J&K Softball Association. The current Softball players clarified that claims of illegalities, mismanagement of funds, and derecognition of the Softball Association were completely false and misleading.
They stated that the individuals raising these allegations are no longer associated with the sport and have resurfaced with motives to regain control of the Association. The Softball Association of India remains fully recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Softball Asia and the World Softball Confederation, with routine renewal processes underway.
While address media players dismissed claims that crores of rupees were released to the Jammu & Kashmir Softball Association and misused. Since the fresh elections on August 6, 2022, the J&K Sports Council has not released any funds to the Association. All softball activities in J&K are managed directly by the Sports Council under its in-house programme, with the Association providing only technical and operational support as required.
Highlighting their achievements, the players noted international representation and multiple national-level medals, reflecting the integrity and effectiveness of the current system. They strongly condemned the recent press conference as an attempt to mislead the public and emphasized their continued commitment to promoting softball, ensuring transparency and creating genuine opportunities for youth across the Union Territory.
