JAMMU, July 6: Dr Ravinder Kumar, a native of Bharakh village in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, has earned national and international acclaim for his groundbreaking research in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to prevent and rehabilitate sports injuries.
Currently serving as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist and pursuing doctoral research at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, Dr Kumar has published a notable research paper in the Springer Nature journal titled “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Sport Sciences: A Systematic Literature Review of Applications, Outcomes, and Future Directions.”
As per a statement, his work explores how AI can be applied to sports science, a field that remains underdeveloped in many parts of the world, including India.
“The study provides valuable insights into AI’s role in improving sports performance and injury recovery, and it has been widely appreciated for its scientific relevance and global perspective,” the statement said.
Dr Kumar has also been invited to share his expertise in countries like Portugal, Japan, and the United States, highlighting his growing global presence in AI-driven sports rehabilitation.
He has published several international papers and is actively mentoring young researchers in the intersection of AI, health, and human performance.
His achievement is seen as a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir and a shining example of how talent from rural India can contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge global research.
