JAMMU, Nov 25: In a thrilling U-19 Boys Cooch Behar match at the JKCA Hostel Ground, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is firmly positioned to outclass Mumbai and script a historic win. At stumps on the penultimate day, J&K set a daunting target of 351 runs for Mumbai, who were struggling at 22/2 in their second innings. With 329 more runs required and only eight wickets in hand, Mumbai faces a tough challenge heading into the final day.
J&K resumed from an overnight score of 135/3 in their second innings and posted an impressive 359 runs, thanks to valuable contributions from Shiva Thakur (71), Arman Sharma (67) and Kamaksh Sharma (44). Mumbai’s bowlers, led by Abhay Patel, struggled to contain the J&K batsmen, with Patel taking 5 wickets.
Earlier, in the first innings, J&K had posted 209 runs, with Dhruv Sharma (53) and Kamaksh Sharma (52) leading the way. Mumbai responded with 218 runs, taking a narrow first-innings lead of 9 runs. J&K’s Basit Lone starred with the ball, taking 5 wickets.
With Mumbai needing 329 runs on the final day and J&K bowlers maintaining tight control, it seems the underdogs from Jammu and Kashmir are on the verge of a historic victory over the mighty Mumbai.
