JAMMU, Sept 19: J&K Physically Challenged Cricket Team was flagged off in an impressive function, organized under the supervision of Dr SD Singh, IGP Jammu at Zonal Police Headquarters, here.
During the function IGP Jammu said that earlier couple of cricket tournaments were organized for these specially-abled cricketers at Jammu under the Civic Action Program of J&K Police and teams from other states were also invited.
He said, the technical experts and selectors of Physically Challenged Cricket Associations of India were also invited in these tournaments so that the performances of the J&K players during the tournaments to observe the events.
He further said that five players from J&K were part of India Camp and one player namely Jagmohan was the part of the Indian team in Indo-Afghan Cricket Series for Physically Challenged, which India won by 2-1.
Rajesh Gill In-charge of the J&K Physically Challenged Cricket informed that the team will participate in Super Six Diyang T-20 Championship at Vadodhra (Gujarat) from September 22, 2017. “The participating teams include Gujarat, Vidharba, UP, Madhya Pradesh and Uttrakhand. The J&K team will play its first match against Gujarat on September 22, 2017. He further said that the best performers will be selected for the Asia Cup which is scheduled to be held on December at India,” Mr Gill added.
