J&K manages draw as Hardeep, Samiullah, Obaid slam fifties

JAMMU, Dec 25: Hardeep Singh, Samiullah Beigh and Obaid Haroon scored big half-centuries as Jammu and Kashmir managed a draw against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 198/6, middle-order batsmen Hardeep Singh and Samiullah Beigh continued their brilliance to add 85 more runs to the total to make a partnership of 142 runs for the seventh wicket, before falling in quick succession to Ravi Kiran and Ravi Teja. J&K scored 299 runs to help Hyderabad gain first innings lead and inflict follow-on on J&K. Hardeep scored a valuable 78 runs off 175 balls with the help of 8 delectable boundaries, while Samiullah contributed well made 76 runs off 178 balls, studded with 9 crispy boundaries. For Hyderabad, Ravi Kiran was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets by conceding 53 runs in his 18.1 overs, while S Mehdi Hasan bagged 3 wickets. Ashish Reddy and Ravi Teja claimed one wicket each.
Following-on, J&K scored 127/1 in 42 overs, before the umpires in consultation with the players called off the match, around one hour before the scheduled time. Obaid Haroon scored a splendid unbeaten half-century (52) runs off 128 balls with 6 boundaries. Adil Reshi (32), Ian Dev Singh Singh (25) not out and Bandeep Singh 13 (retired hurt) were the other contributors. While, Adil hit 5 magnificent boundaries in his knock, Bandeep hit 3 fours in his brief knock. Ian Dev Singh struck 2 boundaries and a massive six in his unbeaten innings. Amol Shinde was the only successful bowler for Hyderabad, who took the wicket of opener Adil Reshi.
