JAMMU, Oct 3: Magnificent power-packed knocks by J&K’s Arya Suvansh Thakur and skipper Akshit Gandral went in vain as Jammu and Kashmir shared points with Jharkhand suffered as bad light played spoilsport in Elite Group Round IV match of the Under-19 Boys Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Holkar Stadium, Indore today.
Earlier, put into bat, J&K scored a formidable total of 173 runs in inclement weather-hit shortened match of 20 overs. Arya Thakur scored brisk 71 off just 43 balls, while Akshit contributed explosive 60 off 4 balls. Ranjot Singh, who was promoted to number-3 slot remained unbeaten on 28 runs off 29 balls, while Zayd Faisal Agha contributed 12 off 14 balls.
Umar Mallick and Abhishek claimed 1 wicket each for Jharkhand.
In reply, Jharkhand were going great guns at 64/1 when bad light stopped play. Sharandeep Singh was unbeaten on 28 off 21 balls, while Shikhar Mohan was at the crease on 26 off 18 balls. For J&K, Dhruv Sigh Parmar was the only successful bowler, who took 1 wicket by conceding 15 runs in his 2 overs.
To everybody’s surprise, part-time slow bowler was made to bowl 2 overs, however, he was expensive, conceding 24 runs to the joy of Jharkhand batsmen.
The match remained undecided, so both the teams shared two points each.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on Saurashtra in the next outing tomorrow.
