J&K has no dearth of talent: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Mar 1: Former Minister and National Conference Additional General Secretary, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today lauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for announcing a Rs 2 crore reward and job assurance for the Jammu and Kashmir Ranji squad following their historic triumph in Hubli. He said the move would motivate youth to channel their energies into productive pursuits.
Addressing a meeting of party office bearers from Jammu North Assembly Constituency, including Parent Body, Youth Wing, Women Wing, SC Wing, OBC Wing, Ex-Servicemen Wing, Retd Employees Wing, Traders Wing and Legal Wings, Sadhotra said the announcement reflects the government’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence and recognising the dedication of players who brought laurels to the region.
He congratulated the team, led by Paras Dogra, describing their victory as a historic milestone that has inspired aspiring cricketers across Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that sports instil discipline, confidence, teamwork and leadership qualities, while keeping youth away from social evils and fostering a healthy society.
Highlighting the rich sporting potential of the region, Sadhotra said Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent. From villages to towns, there are countless young boys and girls with immense potential. What they need is timely identification, systematic training and adequate facilities.
