J&K fencers selected for World University Games

JAMMU, Apr 4: Two exceptional fencers from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected to represent India at the World University Games, scheduled to take place in Germany from July 16 to 27. These talented athletes, Rishika Khajuria and Shreya Gupta, gained recognition after their impressive performance at the All India Inter-University Fencing Championship held at Jammu University, where they represented Guru Nanak Dev University.
In the championship, Rishika Khajuria clinched the Gold Medal in the Individual category, while Shreya Gupta secured the Silver Medal. Their outstanding performances earned them spots in the selection trials, which were conducted at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar today. Among the 21 fencers who participated, Shreya Gupta emerged as the first, while Rishika Khajuria stood third.
The Jammu & Kashmir Fencing Association (JKFA) lauded the fencers for their achievement and selection to the prestigious World University Games. JKFA President Vijay Kumar, along with Secretary Javed Ahmed Choudhary, expressed their appreciation for the fencers’ remarkable accomplishments. International Referee Adv. Supriya Chouchan, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Maninder Pal Singh, and Adarsh Slathia also extended their congratulations on the selection, celebrating the success of these rising stars in the sport of fencing.
