JAMMU, Jan 4: Jammu and Kashmir produced an impressive all-round performance to register a thrilling six-run victory over a formidable Gujarat side in the Women’s U-15 One-Day Trophy at the Lady Amritbhai Daga College Ground, Nagpur. Batting first, J&K posted a competitive total of 174 runs in the stipulated 35 overs, led by skipper Shweta Rana, who displayed great grit and composure to score a brilliant 78 off 74 balls, including nine fours and a six. Vitasta Kitchloo provided solid support with 35 runs off 61 balls, while Mokshita Kotwal (19) and Dhanya Sharma (16) made useful contributions. For Gujarat, Prachi Parmar, Nitya and Faina Parikh claimed one wicket each.
Chasing 175, Gujarat fought hard but were restricted to 168 for 9. Nityay Brahmakshtriya top-scored with 61 off 84 balls, while Frenny Chaudhari added 47. Adeeqa Tariq emerged as the standout bowler for J&K, picking up four wickets for 26 runs, while Janvi Rajput chipped in with two wickets.
JKCA Member Administration Brig Anil Gupta and Member Cricket Operations Vidhya Bhaskar lauded the team’s effort. The team is being guided by Coach Amit Pal Singh along with support staff Shallu Bala, Nishant Sharma, Qazi Anosha, Sahil Magotra, Sapna Jamwal and Rehana Bano.
