JAMMU, Mar 9: Celebrations broke out across Jammu and Kashmir as team India secured a thrilling 4-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy final at Dubai International Stadium. The win, which saw India successfully chase down a target of 252 in 49 overs, sparked massive celebrations in various parts of the region.
In Jammu, the streets were filled with jubilant crowds waving Indian flags, bursting firecrackers, and dancing to the beat of traditional drums. People from all walks of life, including families, students, young and old came together to celebrate the remarkable victory. The atmosphere was electric, with fans chanting “India-India” and sharing their excitement over the team’s spectacular performance.
Similar celebrations were witnessed in almost every district but major celebrations were in Jammu, Kathua, Katra and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as across the country. In Jammu, some fans even began celebrating Holi in advance, adding a vibrant touch to the celebrations.
“We are thrilled by the victory. We are proud of Captain Rahul Sharma. No team can defeat us. India has brought back the Champions Trophy!” said one elated fan.
From bustling metros like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai to tier-2 cities such as Nagpur, Dehradun and Chandigarh, the entire nation joined in the festivities. Supporters expressed their pride in Team India, with many praising Captain Rahul Sharma’s leadership and the team’s resilience. The victory has united the nation in celebration, as cricket enthusiasts across India continue to revel in the team’s success on the global stage.
