JAMMU, Feb 12: Jammu and Kashmir produced a sensational batting display to outclass table-toppers Himachal Pradesh by six wickets in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy at the Mangaldai Sports Association Stadium, Guwahati, today.
Chasing a formidable 267 on a batting-friendly surface, J&K rode on four sparkling half-centuries to overhaul the target comfortably in 45.5 overs, losing just four wickets.
Earlier, disciplined bowling efforts from Bismah Hassan, Rudrakshi Chib and Sandhya Sayal restricted HP to 267. Bismah starred with 3/50 in 10 overs, Rudrakshi claimed 2/55 in 9 overs, while Sandhya was economical, conceding just 33 runs in her 10 overs.
In reply, openers Bawandeep Kaur (53 off 73 balls, 9 fours) and Shambhavi Rajput (57 off 87 balls, 8 fours) laid a solid foundation with a 100-plus partnership. The momentum was carried forward by skipper Jasia Akhtar and Rubia Syed, who stitched together another century stand to seal the emphatic victory.
Rubia Syed dazzled with a blistering 61 off 39 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes, while Jasia remained unbeaten on 57 off just 29 balls, hammering 10 boundaries. Chitra Singh Jamwal contributed a valuable 28.
For HP, Sushmita Kumari, Neena Chaudhary and Sonal Thakur picked up one wicket each. Rubia Syed was declared player of the match. Earlier, HP were powered by Sushma Verma’s unbeaten 106 and SM Singh’s 87.
